About Me
Below is a timeline of where I come from and where I've been throughout my life. As a child I thought I would be a dancer or writer or musician or artist when I grew up. As an adult I have still wanted to be all those things as well as some sort of spiritual counselor. As it turns out, the type of healer I am combines them all.
The items on the list below had a part in shaping where I've ended up. I've taken what you could call a Goldilocks approach to life, searching for the career that is "just right". That's involved trying out some things that weren't really very good fits for me even though they may have fallen within my areas of interest. For example, I became interested in holistic medicine as a direct result of my time as a medical transcriptionist* and seeing how regular medicine works from the inside. I know there has to be a better way. My time as a church organist confirmed my need for a holistic spiritual practice. Teaching piano lessons made me want to teach kids how to access their own innate creative talents rather than how to read music.
In the end I have to do my own thing whether it be for body, mind and spirit. I have a feeling there is no end destination for me but rather a series of experiences along a continuum. The innate wisdom and intelligence in my own body/mind/spirit knows more than most of the books I've read. The trick is remembering to listen to it.
*Actually I had no intention of ever having anything to do with hospitals or healing or doctors or anything like that. It was the only place I could get a job where I could just type, something I'm very good at. But some part of me must have known all along what it was doing because I can see now, in retrospect, that I was always a healer.

1990-95 Church organist at the Nichols Christian Church

2005-07 Worship Associate at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Iowa City
2006 Attuned to Level I Usui Reiki
2006 Attuned to Kundalini Reiki through Master Level
2007 Attuned to Level II Usui Reiki
2007 Created my art blog, heArt-a-Day
2008 Attended and graduated from East-West School of Integrative Healing Arts (formerly Eastwind) in the Iowa City area, 800 hour program.
2008 Licensed and nationally certified massage therapist and
bodyworker.
2008 Attuned to Celtic Reiki
2009 Completed the Personal Well Being Program through Windemere Institute of Healing Arts in May 2009
2009 Attuned as a Usui Reiki Master
2009 Enrolled in the Leadership West Liberty program.
Taught piano lessons for several years at different times.
